Tincture Brewing

Post by BiersalBrewery » Tue May 29, 2018 3:26 pm

ok I made my beer last night (Belgian witbeer) I forgot the coriander lol oops but I'm making another batch before this one is ready and I am trying to see how and when to use cinnamon stick (this batch I added with 5 min left) but I'm reading up and I see a tincture might be the best way to go. So my 2 questions are do I dump the vodka that has the spice flavours into the beer as well? And if I do how will the vodka affect the overall ABV? Is there a better way to use the cinnamon stick? I just went with what BeerSmith recommend.

20000ml at 5% plus 50ml at 40% = ((20000 * 0.05)+(50*.4))/(20050) = 5.08%. So it affects it less than the error in estimating alcohol percentage from hydrometer readings.

Happy brewing
