Beersmith 3

Post by mckay75 » Fri Jun 22, 2018 11:17 am

Anyone try it out yet? I'm running the trial version right now. Some cool new features...I like that it calculates ibus for different temperatures for whirlpool additions.

Anyone else find any features that stands out?

My subscription to Beersmith 2 was just within the window that they let me upgrade it to a Beersmith 3 license but I thought it was still in development. I'll have to take another look

I was curious whether any of his would filter down to Beer Smith mobile. Since that’s what I use.

So I was just poking around the app. I had NO idea that there was an “Install Add-ons ” tab that has tonnes of yeasts / hops / fruits and robobrew profiles that you can instantly add to Beer Smith.
I’ve been adding them manually like a chump. Frig ...

Just thought I’d post and possibly save someone else the headache.
Especially for robobrewers.

Hahaha yeah it’s nice when you want to add different fruits or stick with a certain malt supplier for record keeping purposes.

You can also install all the recipes from a few online sellers like northern brewer and morebeer. I even found equipment profiles for some of my gear in there and the mangrove jacks yeasts are in there too.

Is that for the desktop or mobile version?

That's the desktop version. I found the functionality on the mobile version to be very simplified

Thinking of doing the Beersmith 3 for desktop.
Wondering if people do the yearly subscription or if you have just bought it outright?
Seems the yearly (Gold) is most popular according to their website. And it has major and minor updates where the 1 time fee only has minor.

I currently have the mobile version, but I hate trying to do some of this stuff on an iPad.

What are some thoughts? Yearly is on sale for $9.95 for year (assuming it is first year only). 1 time is on sale for $24.95 (USD of course).

Thanks.
Ryan

They changed their fee structure then. When I bought 1 time it was the same price as yearly but yearly gave you more cloud storage. I doubt they'll change much for the program but you never know.

I bought the yearly subscription
Thought it was a pretty good deal for something that makes it so easy for me to keep exact records.

I’ve made some great beers on days that I’m rushing through a brew with multiple other tasks going on around the house and I probably would have skipped the record keeping but it’s so easy with Beersmith, especially with the laptop running a few feet from my brew space.
