Mill cleaning

Post by Graham.C » Wed Dec 21, 2011 1:30 pm

Not sure where to put this thread, so I put it here.

Through some stupidity on my part and a faulty double bagged zip-lock, my new mill (crank and stein) ended up getting plum pulp all over it (dont ask). I have meticulously cleaned it and it is now drying at a low temp in the oven. I am wondering what I should use as a lubricant? It looked like it came with liquid graphite, but isn't that poisonous? Any thoughts? The instructions that came with it are now just some pulpy plum juice.

lmfao. My mill has oil impregnated bronze bushings that 'don't need lubrication'. I think a little food grade oil will be fine.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

Isn't plum pulp a lubricant? It's definitely food grade.

What a gong show that was. Hopefully it will continue to work in the years ahead. It seems to be all clean now.
