Converting my boil kettle to an "e-kettle"

I am trying to upgrade the boil kettle for more efficient/faster boil times. What kind of process is involved in putting a heating element or "heat stick" into my SS boil kettle? I am not necessarily looking for something for stand alone boils, but maybe something to supplement the elements on my electric stove top. Any ideas/advice? Is it possible to do this without drilling a hole in my pot? On the surface, this appears to be way more efficient than propane.

Also, if you have an electric kettle, I would appreciate any photos/details to help me understand what some of you guys are doing with electricity.

Cheers.
