Has anyone done this. Are there any reasons not to do this?

The only reason I can see, is that the flavored coffees tend to be oily, and could ruin the head on the beer?

i put straight up peanut butter in beer and still got head. Not sure why everyone gets hung up on having head on a beer anyway, go for it

The head isn't my concern, I just thought the flavored coffee might cause some undesirable flavor or aroma..I want to do a hazelnut coffee porter, but want to get the hazelnut flavor without the use of hazelnut extract.

Only if you are brewing a 5 gallon batch on a 10 gallon system.

mmmmmm, 5.5 gallons of synthetic hazelnut flavoured coffee porter....

I think what X is trying to say is, go buy hazelnut extract (but not artificial) and use coffee as usual.

You also avoid the oil/head stability factor going that route.

I'm just joking, due to drinking most likely. Use whatever you want.

I you don't do this I find that the coffee doesn't taste very good.

Anyone know how this would work?

If liverdance uses peanutbutter I don't see why you couldn't use hazelnut butter with some cold brewed coffee.
