See you next year, "fresh" hops!!!

Post by GCR » Wed Nov 21, 2018 10:44 pm

Just bottled my beer using the remains of my "fresh" (read: frozen, vacuum-sealed) hops from this year. First batch earlier this year tasted super medicinal and weird when I bottled, but amazing a week or so later after bottle conditioning. Mostly using as dry hop so far, and not at all disappointed in the results. I've said it before, and I'll say it again.... what a goddamned fantastic hobby!Image

What hop are you growing? Can you bring this to a meeting for us to try?

Cascade, Centennial, Chinook, Magnum and Nugget... some rhizomes from Big Spruce, some from Bramble Hill. I actually have three mini hopyards now - one at my parent's in Miramichi (see https://www.instagram.com/p/BnhgAxDnL4p/), one in St. Louis de Kent (which hasn't really taken off yet), and a single plant in Dieppe I planted earlier this year(https://www.instagram.com/p/BmzCEZinocb/).

I'd love to make it to a meeting, but unfortunately don't make it to Hali too often. Maybe someday!
