Alright, this might be a rookie question but I can’t seem to find the answer. I just got done fermenting 10 gallons of Oatmeal Stout. I split the batch in two and primed one using corn sugar and then the second I decided to use brown sugar for a bit of an experiment.
My question is, will the beer take any flavors from the brown sugar or is the amount to small to leave tasting notes?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Priming using Brown Sugar?
I very much doubt it. It’s too little to make a difference, especially in something as strongly flavoured as a stout.

Your carbonation might be a little less with the brown sugar. It tends to hold more water relative to it's weight.

Ya I used brewunited homebrew carbonation calculator and it gave a bunch of different sugars that can be used and how much based on the level of carbonation you are looking to achieve.Juniper Hill wrote:Your carbonation might be a little less with the brown sugar.
