Is Everwood gone for good?

Post by Peterpasha » Mon May 04, 2020 11:24 am

What has happened with Everwood? A week ago Sunday, they were closing for 4 days to do inventory and were supposed to open back up on the 30th. Their website has gone down and is showing a 'closed' sign as a placeholder.
Does anyone have any news?

Hmm. Their website is just a grey screen saying they are closed due to covid19

Ya I noticed that too, but given the current state of thing it's not surprising they might need to shut it down for a bit.

I figured since they were mostly online and quite busy since everyone it at home they would be fine through this.

Their signage is gone off the building - I don't think they'll be re-opening (at least not as they were). Maybe after this all blows over Dave will be able to re-open out of his basement?

Shoot that sucks! I thought it was just a temporary thing, would really be a blow to the community if they don't re-open.

Looks like they are gone for good for now. This is terrible since it's close and I could get everything I needed their. Is their any alternatives in the city other than noble grape burnside?

NG has been getting a little better over the years, although they definitely lack the hardware selection that Everwood provides and would avoid buying any hops from them as well.

Luckily I am well stocked up in that department from the group buy. More or less bulk grain and liquid yeast will be what I will be looking for.

No doubt I have too many hops.....bulk grain buy will be something we should look at down the road.

Where are you located? Noble Grape is doing curbside pickup which has worked well for me.

Right now quick shipping will probably be a bit of a crapshoot. Some stuff has been getting backed up weeks.

Everwood was my go to, to be honest the only thing comparable is really OBK (online/shipping) in my opinion.
I've done Noble Burnside curbside a couple times now and it's been great.

For me if Everwood doesnt return it will probably be
HOPS - Northwest Hop farms (online)
Grains - Noble (Burnside)
Hardware/Misc - OBK (online)
Yeast - This is tricky, but OBK is probably the best option given Noble's more limited selection.

Noble Grape Burnside has White Labs orders that go in every month or so. Email them and they can get in anything White Labs has in stock. No waiting and service is great.

Agree with Woody, if you can plan out what ya need from White Labs you can get virtually anything from their catalogue.

Hoping maybe they may be able to work something out with Escarpment Labs, would really be disappointed to miss out on their yeast.

Escarpment is definitely something I'm going to miss being able to just grab. Only trouble with them vs White Labs if NG were to pick them up is that their availability is limited to a few core strains and then everything else kind of rotates based on what they have on the go. Due to their size White Labs generally has anything that's not a vault strain in stock at any given time so a waiting list is a bit easier to do.

I should add that Shortfinger up in Ontario is a really great store and keeps Escarpment well stocked. Maybe not the best time to be ordering liquid yeast by mail, but one to keep in mind. Decent shipping rates too.

I've always ordered from OBK and had a really good experience. Losing Everwood is a hard blow to take for the community, aside from an outstanding catalogue and service, it was a convenient place to have bulk deliveries.
