Pressure fermentation

Post by kenny10 » Wed Jul 07, 2021 3:12 pm

Finally got my fermzilla all rounder last week and can’t wait to use it. What styles are ppl brewing under pressure and what styles to avoid. I’m looking forward to brewing some lagers and Kolsch.

i've done mostly lagers and IPA's so far and have had great success. I'm fermenting at around 20psi now. There is a great podcast about pressure fermentation at different pressure with Chris white from white labs. The biggest thing I took was the effect the pressure had on IBU's/bitterness. Have fun
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

I picked up a Blowtie 2 from AliExpress. Seems to work well (my keg didn't explode). Haven't calibrated or done a proper test though. About 25 bucks with shipping but a 6 week wait....
