So I smashed my 5000ml flask

Post by mr x » Fri Dec 17, 2010 4:48 pm

Busted it in the car out on the highway today. I'm going to start a group order thread on this one if anybody is interested. They are really great for good starters.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

Bummer about the flask but I'll be looking to get on that order.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

My 2000 ml flask isn't the standard model so I'm having a hard time finding a stopper to fit it. Baxter doesn't have a warehouse in town anymore so I don't know where to get lab equipment locally.

I'm interested in this order too, either to get a stopper or a new flask (maybe both).

That's an odd one. I usually don't use stopper for mine. I just use tinfoil and/or throw a beaker over the top, depending on what I'm doing.

It's particularly good for making coffee flavoured beers.

My autoclave isn't the standard lab-issue either, but it works:
