Just popped into my inbox. I can pass the email along to anyone who is interested.Hi, Brewnosers!
I'm looking for 6-8 Halifax homebrewers and craft beer afficionados to profile in The Coast's upcoming March beer issue, for one or the other of the following stories:
1) Homebrew disasters: has your carboy exploded on you before, or have you experienced other homebrew disasters? If so, and you're open to sharing your story with The Coast's readers, I'd love to chat with you!
2) Ask the beer geek: I'm looking for a handful of homebrewers who are willing to let me ask them questions about their favourite places to drink beer in Halifax (when they're not drinking their own), their favourite place to drink their own homebrew when they're not at home (ex: Black Rock beach, or the boardwalk, watching the ships sail by...) and 3 or 4 other questions.
If you're interested in participating in one or the other of these stories, please send me an email to this address or ******@gmail.com. Unfortunately the turnaround time is tight and I'd need to speak to you in the next two to four days.
Also, if you can think of another local homebrewer or craft beer fan who you think would be good to profile, I'd appreciate it if you could forward my email to them.
Thanks so much in advance,
Christine Beevis

I would be interested in getting on the mailing list... as well as getting the email from the Coast.

She needs to know that transporting home brew is illegal. This article could get someone in trouble...THE COAST wrote:their favourite place to drink their own homebrew when they're not at home (ex: Black Rock beach, or the boardwalk, watching the ships sail by...)

That and the first story she wants to write (homebrewing disasters) have me thinking that participating in this may make us look bad. I'd rather she focus on positive aspects rather than negative and illegal ones if I were to be involved.Keggermeister wrote:She needs to know that transporting home brew is illegal. You could always tell her your first disaster was an attempt to clone Bud Light.. and you did.KMcK wrote:[

Hi guys,
Thought I'd take an opportunity to allay some of your concerns. First, it is not my intent to make anyone look bad, as anyone who knows me and has read my writing knows. The homebrew disasters idea came from a particular disaster in our house after my husband brewed a particularly big beer - and let's just say there are dents in the drywall that are testaments to the result. The assigning editor and I thought this would be a good opportunity for other local homebrewers to share their funny disaster stories with other beer afficionados.
Regarding the "where do you like to drink your homebrew in public?" question - that was a question suggested to me by the assigning editor, although I, too, had a concern about the legality of this. I have decided to steer clear of this question and instead ask questions such as:
Why do you consider yourself a beer geek- what lengths do they go to to know/understand/drink/experience beer?
Advice to other Haligonians--- e.g., Where do they you *out* (i.e., not their homes) to drink, and why is Halifax a great beer town?
I hope that helps address your questions, and would be happy to speak to you about one or the other of these stories if you decide you'd like to participate.
Thanks
Christine

I've heard that story! I also think the story is a good idea. I think so long as you answer appropriately it will only help to create awareness of the hobby - not make us look bad.Ceebie wrote:The homebrew disasters idea came from a particular disaster in our house after my husband brewed a particularly big beer - and let's just say there are dents in the drywall that are testaments to the result.
