Sight Glass (Level Indicator) for Keggle

Post by Stoker » Fri May 11, 2012 9:38 am

Good day folks. I am setting up my electric brew kettle and want to install a Sight Glass (Navy Term). Does anyone know of a supplier for the tubing or a good place to get a kit. I have done some pricing on Poly Carbonate rigid tubing and I was surprised at the cost. Thanks for all the help and have a great weekend.

Hi Stoker, I had originally wanted to do a sight glass for my rig as well. After I thought about it a while I figured it may be a pain to clean and an unnecessary build complication. I built a dip stick from copper pipe that hangs on the inside of my brew vessel. I will calibrate and mark it this weekend and then post some pics.

Just my solution, ymmv.

I use a sight glass on the hlt, but not on the keggle, calibrated dipstick is fine for me. I use teflon 1/4" tubing. I don't recommend using sight glass (especially ridgid) without an isolation valve.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:
