keg problem

i was just force carbing some newly (corny) kegged beer and realized the out part is letting air out of the keg. this helps to explain why my last tank went so quickly, but is it a problem that can be fixed or should i be taking the keg back to the ng?

Is it leaking from the hole on the out, or around the part where it seals to the keg itself?

So, this is the "out" poppet, I'm guessing.
You'd like to keep everything sanitary, have you got another keg to store your beer while you frig around with this one?
If not, you can do it commando style: just get in there and get dirty.
Unscrew the post and take a look. Is the hidden o-ring still good? How about the rubber on the poppet? NG does have replacement ones, so if this is a relatively new purchase, be sure to make them pay for one.

Sometimes they just need a cleaning. Take off the post and give it a good washing.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

alright, thanks for the help. should the beer that i put in it be moved elsewhere or do you think it will be alright to sit in there for the weekend. Ill be away and wont be able to locate the right tools to take it apart until sunday sometime.

If the leak is slow enough that you're not going to drain your CO2 or make a huge mess, I would leave it in. I would try pushing it in/out a couple of times, by hooking/un-hooking up your beer out line. If you leave your serving tap hooked up, does that stop the flow? I'd do that, and maybe wait until it's empty.

my co2 tank did drain last time. after playing with it a bit though i realized i didn't have a proper seal on the keg. going to hook up with kig and start using it, and monitor the co2 levels. as long as my co2 doesnt drain again ill wait until the kegs done to take the keg apart and play with it
