Source for Fittings

Post by adams81 » Wed Apr 03, 2013 7:53 am

Anyone know of a good source of fittings that ships to Canada? I had planned to use bargainfittings.com but I guess they don't ship internationally anymore.

You can cobble stuff together from Kent/H Depot or order from OBK.

The OBK cooler BH os http://www.ontariobeerkegs.com/product_ ... lkhead.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Obk dip tube http://www.ontariobeerkegs.com/product_p/sselbowfpt.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; + http://www.ontariobeerkegs.com/product_ ... readed.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; + http://www.ontariobeerkegs.com/product_ ... bow-ss.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; + a tube.

I can put together some stuff if you tell me exactly what you want.

I ordered a false bottom, dip tubes, hop stopper etc. from http://www.norcalbrewingsolutions.com/s ... Tubes.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

They will custom size the diptube to the measurements of your pot

You should be able to find all that in home depot/kent/home hardware, managed to find everything I needed for my mash tun build there. Most of the stuff is in the plumbing department, while the o-rings where in the kitchen department for some reason.

Fermenting: Oud bruin/Vienna Pekko SMaSH
On tap: Nelson dry hopped Berliner/ Scottish Heavy 70-/ NE IPA

If you want to piece it together yourself (other than the 1/2" tube), you can find everything in stainless locally. Crane Supply & Fairview Fittings in Burnside would have the valves, couplings, nipples, etc. and you can get pretty much any o-ring you want from Atlantic Hardchrome in Burnside (they have the red silicone o-rings too).

Thanks for the sources, great to know what everyone here is using and especially what is available locally outside of the big box stores.
Appreciate the offer mr x, I'd take you up on it if I knew more about what I was doing!

Just tell me what parts you need. You're going to have to figure it out before you start ordering stuff anyway.

I got some stuff from Wolseley, but they don't stock everything here in New Glasgow... you HRM'ers might have better luck up there

Got most of our local fittings from TTL in burnside, they have tons of SS NPT stuff.

Ordered alot of stuff from brewershardware.com and they were great too.

It's a great false bottom, though I rarely use it now. What is the reason you're looking for a false bottom?

It's not the one that he's selling now, and it wasn't great for my situation (I recirculated during chilling).

The ones he's selling now wouldn't do anything for pellet hops, but should work great for leaf hops.

Any chance you remember the measurements you used for your dip tube Jimmy?

I use mine as a side pickup and these are the measurements.. This won't work if you plan on using it for a center pickup.

Whirlpooling with a side pickup is the plan! If hops get to be an issue I'll go the hop spider route and you'll be getting an order for a hop bag.
