Ha! Never even dawned on me. It's a throwback to the old Atlantic Grand Prix wrestling - Killer Karl Krup with "The Claw"!

Iirc, K3 was selling hash and weed down in Lower Antigonish area as a rastafarian after wrestling. Didn't last long lol...

My parents used to drop me and my brother off at the forum in North Sydney for the afternoon to watch AGP with a dime to call if anything happened. I was 11, my brother 8!

Can't wait to hear what beers you find a way to name after Kendo Nagasaki and The Cuban Assassin…

Yep, AGPW is an awesome topic to mine for names. That's awesome about K3's post-wrestling exploits. Did you know the Cuban Assassin has been farming chickens in, I think, Alberta?

Batch #3 was going to be a Mill St Tankhouse Ale clone. Then the Conan Yeast came around and that's the recipe I had ready. Also rode the "Why not?" train to an extra dry-hop with an ounce of cascade. Turns out the malt bill was not the equal of the Conan…

It looks pretty and it smells good, but it fermented to 1.008 and there's no backbone to it at all. Sadly it's a fail, but I definitely learned from it.

Batch #4 is EdWort's Bee Cave Haus Pale Ale from HBT. First time a beer has properly cleared for me and a pretty tasty pale.

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Homebrewing is the only thing I can think of that a failure gets you decent, cheap beer. Aside from living in Quebec.
