I'm going to build a CFC.

Is there anywhere else besides Kent or Home Depot? They want like $1.68 / ft for 1/4", $2 something for 3/8" I think. (or was that 3/8 - 1/2" I forget now).

A refrigeration or plumbing supply place anywhere?

I was looking at building one a few months ago, and I believe the cheapest spot I found was Rona in Bayers Lake.

We checked the Bayers box stores, and Rona was cheapest at the time.

you should give Pierceys a call as well... although I think they'll have the same price as Rona.

Rona had 50' of 1/4" for $30 when I was out there a couple days ago. They didn't appear to sell it by the foot.

Second that - Rona now owns Piercey's and they will be switching names soon! Gotta assume pricing would do the same.

I finally got to Rona this morning and yes, they have the best price. I got a 25' roll of 3/8" copper tubing for $22. I have everything I need now to make a 25' CFC besides some hose fittings.

LOL, yeah. Actually I may not use standard hose fittings for this, I'll decide when everything is built to that point and my (indoor) brewery is almost complete.

3/8" inside (I'm assuming), what is the outer tubing?

5/8" high temp rubber hose. I got it on a bit of a sale last week at PA. I wanted high temp rubber because I'll be recirculating boiling wort through it near the end of my boil. I got 50' of it but will only be using 25' if someone wants the other 25' they can have it for what I paid / 2, about $20.

most rubbers are not food-safe, so I wouldn't suggest using it for the wort (unless it's silicone, then please ignore this post).

Only the coolant water runs through the hose.

Sounds good to me, Rasp. I'll take the other half. Will you be pumping the wort through, or doing a gravity feed?

I'm going to pump. I'm building a 1 vessel / BIAB rig but I want to recirculate so I'll have a pump for that anyways; just as soon as I find an OK deal on a march 809. Soon I'll start a thread on my build.

We'll have to meet up soon then. I still have those seeds too, if it's not to late to get em into soil.

burt process in the states is where I founds the best deal on a march pump. Brass head for cheaper than any other plastic head.
