What Hops Do You Like?
What Hops do people really like using? Anyone tried anything unusual and liked it?

I tend to be very traditional. Goldings, EKG, Fuggles etc.
I just have gotten other hops and I will be experamenting.

I'm a big fan of Cascade, Columbus, and Centennial. Mosaic has also become one of my favourites, but it's not quite as easy to come by.

I've tried Belma and Calypso. I enjoyed both, but Belma would be better paired with Citra. As for the Calypso, I think it's best used in a lighter style beer. I really enjoyed it in the cream ale I brewed.

Recently I've discovered saaz and now I'm learning to love low AA hops.

Cascade, Amarillo, Simcoe, Centennial, Columbus, and Citra are my go to IPA and IIPA hops. Recently I have also used Summit quite a bit for IPAs, Black IPAs and stouts with good results, nice hop, super high AA%.
I've also experimented a bit with Legacy, new hop from the NW, really nice blackcurrant flavours and aroma, but some people think it smells like cat pee
For British style beers, I like bramling cross, challenger, and goldings.
For German and Belgian beers I usually use german tettnanger, styrian goldings or saaz, not a big fan of hallertau.
Some other hops that I have tried and didn't really like: Pacific Jade, Ultra, Brewers Gold.

I haven't brewed a beer with just cascade in it for over a year. I think it's time to make one again. Does anyone even do that any more. Cascade smashes and the like?

I used cascade a lot but haven't in a while, more or less because I have a shit ton of other hops to use up first. I will go back to them - maybe near the end of the summerGuingesRock wrote:I haven't brewed a beer with just cascade in it for over a year. I think it's time to make one again. I used to use it a lot as well, I think it might have gone out of style a bit. I think cascade and centennial would be nice, maybe aim for a hazy, dry hopped, yellow coloured beer, like one I made in the summer. I think I'll go for it.

Re: Hops You Like
I like all of the American C hops...but simcoe seems to be my favorite. ..
mandarina was my least favorite. ..but that was my fault. ..too much of it...im brewing a simple smash with it tomorrow morning. ..gotta redeem the hop...or myself lol.
I use nugget and chinook in my dos amigo. ..and ekg in my bitters.
Mosaic is nice in a apa as well.
El dorado in my saison tasted awesome.
Lable wise...im putting "cold brewed" on it lol..on account of winter brewing

Re: Hops You Like
I still use cascade. I have a plant in the back, so it's usually been the main hop in my blonde ale, APA and IPA, although I've been trying some others lately.
For American hoppy beers, I like C hops, along with Amarillo and Simcoe. My last IPA had a lot of Summit and Pacific Jade in it, and it had a strong orange flavour I'm not sure I'm happy with. Serves me right for trying something new. Next IPA will be C hops again, they're a classic for a reason.
In bitter I've had good experience with EKG, Bramling Cross, Challenger and First Gold.
For German type beers I like Hallertau and Spalt.
I like Fuggles, Willamette, and Northern Brewer in my porters and stouts.

Re: Hops You Like
I tend to gravitate toward Amarillo, Citra, Warrior, and Cascade. I've had the good fortune to recently get some Falconer's Flight hops which have been been very intriguing.
Currently At Brookland Brewing, Sydney, NS:
In Kegs: Four Seas IPA, Belgian Witbier
In Carboys: Ordinary Bitter (Bitter Bonnette)
Bottled:
Next Brew: California Lager.
