Hops Id

Anyone have any idea what these hops are? Buddy of mine has them in his yard, pick them the other day, gonna try them regardless but figured be better if I could at least narrow down a strain if possible, thanks.

Wet hops.

 I'm not sure if there's any way to ID hops based on appearance..maybe someone else can chime in with a more knowledgeable answer.

I think the shape of the leaves can be a clue, but I'm not too sure. You could always mix them into a glass of Coors Light or something :shitstorm: (something with no flavour of it's own) and see how it tastes.

Some people discuss making a "tea" from the hops to determine how strong they are

A good way to tell is to use them in a SMaSH (Single Malt and Single Hop) recipe. Gives you a really good idea as to how they are.

I have some that I got from an old homestead, still trying to figure out what variety they are. It is very hard to tell just by looking at them. So far we have ruled out Cascade and Nugget.

Nice healthy plant. Kind of looks like nugget to me.
