Keg Spear Removal

Hi,

I picked up a 20L Sanke keg on Kijiji, and the spear is threaded. I was able to get it unthreaded but there appears to be a safety catch on it that will not allow me to remove it. Can it be removed and reused? I'm hoping that someone has seen these before and knows how to get it out.
