Stainless welders in Cape Breton

Post by jason.loxton » Tue Mar 01, 2016 5:39 pm

Anyone have an connections with stainless welders in CB? Looking for a couple of sanitary welds to install ferules on a tank. Ideally someone who can pressure certify.

Can do out of the yellow pages, but am hoping to find someone that comes recommended.

Maybe try emailing Big Spruce. I'm sure they must get stainless work done for something

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

There is a company making stainless steel tanks in Arichat. I think they make fuel tanks, but those have to be made corrosion proof too. Might be worth starting there. I don't know the company name thought, sorry.

The company in Arichat is AFL Tank.

There are companies like AB Mechanical that would have stainless welders that could do that job, but not sure if you would want to pay their rates.

My cousin's boyfriend welds for AFL. I'm not sure if they do stainless though

They do sell stainless fuel tanks. We priced some a couple of years ago. Not sure if they make them there or not.

Thanks guys. I tried AFL, who are now called Arichat Metal Fabrication Limited, and they referred me to Mulgrave Machine Works.

If you guys have any other suggestions, keep them coming!

did you mention "pressure certirication" when you spoke to them? That will really complicate your life and is something you don't really need, which is why they referred you to Mulgrave Machine (ASME U-stamp shop.)
