Thinking about the suggested spacing of 5' between different varieties and 3' between plants of the same variety, the large hop trellis I am planning is going to have a lot of free space. Does anyone grow companion crops with their hops? It strikes me that beans might be a natural fit, since the trellis is already in place. Alternatively, a ground crop might help cut back on weeding.
Anyone do this or have wisdom?

Re: Growing veggies between hops?
I was thinking at least for the first year... subsequent years (hopefully) the hops will be too robust!
