Brewpump update

Post by OntarioBeerkegs » Wed Apr 10, 2013 4:43 pm

We are pleased to announce our continued support of Canadian home-brew clubs. Today we sent out seven pumps to different clubs from one coast to the other! Thank you for helping us celebrate the launch of our new live website http://www.brewpump.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; hoping these fine clubs love them as much as we do!

I'd love to give it a go. I have a dead pump experiment that I was looking to see if i can replace with one of these. I'll take notes and pics and submit a review to everyone for the opportunity.

When did you want to grab it? It will need a power source; that's something I don't have.
brewpump.com wrote:How is the pump powered?

Required is a 12 Volt DC power supply, outlet adapter or battery. Not included in purchase of the BrewPump.

I'll PM for pick up details. I have 12vdc power in my control panel already, so not a problem.

Very interested to see how this performs. That price tag is very attractive!

Very cool, Patrick. The web-page could benefit from some advice about the power requirement (either Watts or Amps) of the pump, though. 12VDC doesn't tell the whole story - though I'm betting I could find an old laptop power supply with enough juice.

The information with the pump says "Min start-up power consumption less than 2 Watt"

It will be available for anyone to try, but don't hoard it. John G is taking it tomorrow and will Christen it, then the next in line can try it out.

Be sure to post a review, as I'm sure Patrick would appreciate the feedback

No rush for me. Someone let me know when I'm next in line and I'll arrange pickup and then delivery to next in line.

My understanding is that the greatbreweh pumps are the cheap knockoffs of these ones.

I already have a dc power supply to try out with it. I just need a 1/2" MT x FT adapter to get started. Should have one kicking around here somewhere.

What is this power supply you speak of why doesn't it just plug into an outlet?

They're 12V DC pumps.

Your wall outlet voltage is AC, these pumps require DC voltage. To use your house wall outlet you need an adapter much like you need an adapter to charge your cell phone's battery which is also DC. The adapter converts voltage from AC to DC, the amount (3v, 12v, 24v, etc) depending on the particular adapter.

Yeah, John and I found that while we were looking at it after the exam this afternoon. It'll be a month or more before I brew again, but I'll be wanting to get a shot at it. I'm way less than happy with the pump I have.

2W seemed awfully low, but then I remember the 115W pump I had running a waterfall to my outdoor pond in my last home. 1/60th of that flow would probably be plenty.

Ok so if I get a lap top power supply cord that is 12 volts and chop the end off and wire the pump imtp it, will that do the trick?
