Well, I'm in also. 8-)
I don't care if I place. I'm in it for the scoresheet and glassware.

I tweeted to them last night and it was at 70 so far. They tweeted back 2.5 hours ago and are tallying them. Waiting to hear back! :rockin:

Any clue if they will release any info early (like finalists etc) or if it all has to wait for the gala?

I believe the top 4 are notified ahead of time but not which place, this way the winners can arrange to bring in a sample of their beers. Rest of us won't know.

Hahaha damn! I really like my robust porter but since it is my first time brewing i don't know how well it will do and i'm debating sending it into the lethbridge comp. However if it scores poorly i wouldn't bother.

Com'on Mark, you know as well as I do that one competition can give you 15 points for a beer, and the next will give you 40+ and second in BOS ;)

Hahahaha so true! I'm sure the Garrison comp won't fall into that category though. I think i'll probably send it anyway. I have four batches fermenting now that i'm anxious to send off but 2 are lagers, and i'll be lucky to have them ready for Ales. I'm in the process of lowering the temp 1 degree per day.. zzzzzzz

The top 4 will know approximately on the Monday before the gala, the order of those 4 isn't determined until the day of the gala at a private judging by the final judges. Winners announced that night.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Comp ran relatively smoothly. I think it was 14 went to the next level.

You can ask me all you want, I made sure to avoid the numbers on the sheets. I could not tell you if #63 was even brown.

Good luck to all and thanks to all.

Sandy

Hi all, I entered a brew but I have to travel for work now on the 5th. I'd still like to get feedback on my beer, I'm hoping to send a friend in my place with some growlers for sampling. If that doesn't work out, is there a way I can get review sheets or however the beer is judged?

If you can't be there on the 5th, one of us could pick up your sheets and growler for you. Otherwise, you can make contact with Justin to arrange to pick it up at another time.
Your entry fee also entitled you to a ticket to the gala, so maybe give it to a friend who' enjoy drinking some beer, and he/she could pick up your stuff for you.

Thanks very much, I gotta say I really appreciate how quick and supportive people are on this forum!

My competition beer just ran dry - 21 days after kegging. Which is amazing because I've been only drinking one night a week, and only a couple beers at that.
