Only 4 months late, but I just received my feedback for the Toronto Beer Week comp that several of us entered.
Lemon Ginger Wit - Spice/Herb/Vegetable:
We like how the lemon and ginger has been integrated into this brew, and they seem like a great choice for a wit. Base beer is obviously of quality. Nice tartness from the lemon and some heat from the ginger. Would perhaps go with more ginger next time. A good beer in a very tough category.
Satan's Porter (Maple Porter) - Specialty:
Huge kudos on making your own maple syrup for this one. Bang on appearance for the robust porter style. Good maple sweetness in the nose. Light roast underneath. Sweet, smoky flavour with a good maple character. Pairs perfectly with the roast. Obviously a good porter base in this one. Very drinkable with no obvious flaws. Ticks all the right boxes, but had very tough competition in this category.
So, maybe next time I enter the easy categories. Which ones are those again?

I have a feeling those are the ones I couldn't drink a keg of.

Congrats on the good feedback, all the same!
I concur that the couple of samples of your brews I've had were quality stuff!

The feedback on the Wit matches exactly what the girls were saying, but I liked it at the current level. Don't tell them, but they were right. Though I'm sure they somehow already knew that.

Here is the feedback I recieved
"American Amber Ale - Nice head, nice colour. Nose is leafy hop and caramel very tempting. Lot of hop bitterness, and almost ipa-like. It does not have the malt character that you would expect from an amber. Could have been entered as an IPA and done well there."
Looks like I was in the wrong category too

I posted mine in the competition thread, but I'll repost here...
Townshend Pale (Pale Ale): Good appearance, with a golden body and lingering off-white head. Lemony citrus nose has a bit of pepperiness to it. Grainy flavour is well balanced by citrus hops. Body is moderate and sessionable. Nicely made and a strong finisher in a large and well-fought category.
Off-Kilter (Scottish 80/-): Great dark appearance with a long lasting head. Classic malty aroma - some treacle and peat. Sweet malty flavour, but with the hops providing a delicate balance. Body is good, but the carbonation is a little light, and there are some signs of oxidation. Otherwise an excellent ale - well done!
Oddly enough, I don't use peated malt in my 80/- but carmelize the hell out of it. I boil about a gallon of the first runnings down to about a quart.

Andy, I really liked those beers. I also found that pepperiness in your pale and I think it transferred with the slurry you gave me into my amber. I loved it so that worked out great for me, but maybe I am just imagining things. Was it even the same yeast that you gave me?

This is mine. Can't understand where the chlorine aroma would come from. Perhaps it's time to change cleaners and to rinse better.
APA Phartz American Pale Ale x Great appearance. Juicy nose with a slight cholorine aroma. Flavour is light, but is along the right vein. Amp it up and this would fare well.

finally received: "Classic appearance. Fruity nose is clean and appealing. Spot on carbonation and body. Some light funk compliments the fruit in the flavour. A little too astringent to take the top spot, but a well-deserved silver."

Just got mine too:
Doc's Feet Dubbel - Here's the winner. Very dark brown body and a fine head. A spot on dubbel. Nice roast, fruitiness and dryness. Could perhaps be a little drier for the style, but that's a minor quibble. No obvious flaws. Showcase the sugar nicely. Gold.
Hefeweizen - A very good hefeweizen with a minor flaw of occasional varnish notes in the flavour and nose. Nice wheatiness and phenolic aspects and a spot-on body with creamy carbonation. Very good but for the flaw.
Lucky Loonie Black IPA - A gusher, which kicks up a huge head on a deep cola body. The nose is sweet fruit and candy sugar with limited hop. Despite this the flavor shows an exquisite balnce between juicy fruit, roast and leafy bitterness. Nicely made and a strong contender.
Belgian IPA - Clear color, malt and fruit in aroma, clean. Thin malt body, slightly astringent bitterness. Good attempt.
I'm disapointed about the Black IPA gushing. I knew that original batch was past its prime though.
