Yeah, I'm hoping the do it over multiple sessions or have a decent number of judges. Between the hops and the amount of likely oxidized beers it'll be a tough day on the ol' tastebuds I'm sure.

Judging is this weekend, I believe (won't be able to judge, unfortunately!). No clue on number of entries.

Should be plenty of judges available, so won't be too much of a burden! :)

Good luck everyone!

Question: do you just bring your Registration Form to NG and pay your fee when you drop off or do you send that in somewhere? I don't see anything on the form that suggests anything different, but I wasn to be sure I didn't miss some instructions somewhere.

I don't think you need to submit the form anywhere except with the beer itself when you drop off/pay.
I dropped mine off at the brewery, the guy tucked my form in with my bottles, took my $$ and said good luck.

Yeah they took my money and tucked it in with the beer and form. There also are no instructions to put your info on each bottle with an elastic but I did that anyway.

Haha I usually put one form on the outside of the box, another inside, and also use elastic bands to put BJCP labels on each bottle.

This time I just did the one form though lol

With as many participants as I am thinking, the more info the better. Otherwise things are bound to get mixed up which would be a real shame.

I always label each bottle with an elastic.

As someone who has organized a few of these, highly recommend putting a label with each bottle, elastic or easily removable taped/sticker is good too. (But not too easily, of course). Removing other/original labels from bottles is a good idea, as is using the same style of bottle for each entry, if possible, as it makes them easy to pick out of a crowd quickly.

Banned.

;)

In one competition, someone decided to use industrial strength zipties to put their labels on, almost needed a grinder to remove them, couldn't slip them off.

You set your expectations like your dissolved oxygen :spilly:
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Still have some waiting... The winner is decided only on the afternoon of the Gala. This was only the first round, BJCP sheets filled out. Second round is done in-house by Garrison employees (no sheets), then the Final Four are given final ranking that last day. Unless they’ve changed it from previous years.
