So by "Open" does this mean open style?

By "Ales Open" it means the competition is open to anyone. By "Competition Open" it means it's open for entries (which this one isn't really quite yet).

And you will. It is probably the Premier beer comp in Canada. It was only last year that it was removed from the AHA circuit for reasons only the American organization could come up with. Myself along with the President of the Ales club and Bill Pierce blasted the AHA for dropping it from the first round.

Let's do this! I'm bottling tonight, shipping at the end of the week. I might have room for a few more entries if anyone in HRM wants to register and drop them off to me by Thursday. I'll be doing the 3 day express shipping which works out to nearly $10 an entry with this amount.

I'll piggyback an entry. I'll run it out tomorrow night if you are around.

Also, be sure to register your entries on the site and attach the bottle tags. Either pass along a cheque for your entries or pay via paypal and print and include your receipt.

You guys know what happened to the Titanic. All your eggs in one basket etc. etc. We need Brewnosers to be represented in the ALES. I'm sure it will be fine. I'm just a bit neurotic. Maybe label it yeast samples for analysis
and tape it up well.

Good to see a few entries going in. Getting a group together to do entries cuts the shipping and makes it easier for others to enter

It's the biggest competition of the year in Canada. I wish I had more good beers to send but I was really busy over the winter and couldn't even send in to Werthogs and Cowtown. I have 4 entries to send. Andrew brought 3 entries too.

I sent in some today. Not over the moon with any of the ones I sent though, water chemistry was before the helpful discussion, but it's a start.
I sent off some of my left over "too hoppy" Garrison Weizen also. It mellowed somewhat as the keg became almost empty, so I tried it again as a weizen.

Great! This should be the best showing we've had in a long time.
