Half Pints Pro/Am Challenge - Winnipeg Brew Bombers

I think this will be my first comp. I'm not sure how many categories I'll be going into, but want to try to get 2-3 of my beers in, if I can somehow manage to get 6 entries, I may as well try.

I'll be brewing 1 more batch of Pineapple IPA which I want to enter as this is probably my best beer to date, but want to play with my water additions on the next beer following my current recipe.

Half Pints Pro/Am Challenge

2014 poster alt1

The Winnipeg Brewbombers are pleased to announce the second annual Half Pints Pro/Am Brew Challenge.

After a very successful inaugural event last year with more than 400 entries, we are back and ready for more.

We have a couple of changes planned.

New dates: There were a few weather challenges last year, so we’ve pushed the dates up a bit. This year, it’s Sept 29– Oct 4, 2014, with judging taking place Oct. 1 to 4.

Limited entries: We have limited the amount of entries to six per brewer (both amateur and professional). There will be a prize for the pro and amateur brewer who receives the most accumulated points.

More fun: We will have more casual interaction and more great food and beer. We are planning additional events surrounding the competition so that judges, stewards, competitors and casual craft beer fans can gather together and enjoy some of the fantastic beer and food available here in Winnipeg.

Back again: We are thrilled to have Half Pints back as our title sponsor. Like last year, they will brew the winning amateur beer at their brewery and bring it to market. Last year’s Best in Show winning beer, brewed by Dean Kelly of Saskatoon, will be available during the competition so you’ll be able to try it.

We will have other great prizes to give away and amazing feedback by BJCP certified judges.

Check back for more details as they become available.

We look forward to your entries, and happy brewing.

Who else entered here? I didn't, and I think Rubbertoe missed it as well. Guinges? As a side note, my phone tries to correct Guinges to Guinness.

Thanks, I might Keith. I sent several good beers in though and only one was recognized. I think it's like RubberToe says ..."your stars have to be lined up".

Josh, I've given the recipes to the new brewery that's starting up here in Wolfville next year. They have a hobby brewery/society (not commercial yet) in someone's house, and they've been churning out Poolside Blonde, Black Gold stout, and they have a batch of my latest IPA called "Three" in the fermenter at the moment. They come around and try every new beer I make and eat bacon, and they are always excited to know about my next brew. I want to be their beer designer when the new brewery is built, that's my dream any way, and there's talk of it. Imagine creating beers in your home and then having someone brew them on a large scale :D I have a ways to go, but I'm stepping up my game, branching out into different styles and have a local collection of craft beer people as well as Coors Light drinkers who I give beer to for feedback, and have sent to all the competitions for feedback also. It's a lot of fun, and I enjoy their company, plus they have all the gear, including a walk In cold room for lagering.

Dreaming further, Sandy's very generous comment/joke about a Stillwell tap takeover, may happen ....some day. There's no harm in aiming high.

It's early days.
