What categories are you guys in, I still like to watch when the results come in.
If any of you owns a small business, FedEx gives you something like 30% off for 6 months if you open an account, then they work out another deal for you. Maybe you just need to open an account and don't need to have a business. I don't know the details. I have an account. I go online, get quotes, print shipping labels and arrange pickup online, and they bill my visa card a few weeks after successful delivery.

My cost for a banker’s box with 20 bottles of beer in it (10 entries) is
Fedex 2 day $89, priority overnight $101
And that’s picked up from my office in Wolfville. It’s much cheaper if you live near a depot and can take it in …but I don’t have that option.

If Keith gets his act together and get his 2 entries to me to put in the box, that increases the shipping cost by $14 only. I think I can get 12 entries in a banker's box ...just.

How many entries did you send? I can't figure out why it would have been $140?

Eric and I are sending a total of 9 entries (18 bottles)...weight was 25.5lbs. Overnight would have been $140 according to their site...5day was under $40

That sounds about right then, my quote for 25lbs overnight for 101 was with the discount for having an account.

My beer arrived today. They tried to deliver it but the place didn't open to 10.00 am. The email said they would try again tomorrow. I called FedEx and they said they would go back today, and they did. I was worried it would sit around somewhere and freeze.

I think it will be fine. It's the heat that's the killer. I had a whole batch that was fucked up in the summer with terrible reports of oxidation and they all got very low scores. I honestly think they must have been left in the trunk of someone's car on a scorching day. Did you wrap the bottles in bubblewrap? that's a great insulator.
