Garrison Judges and Stewards
Hey Folks,
I've walked backwards into organizing the Judging for the Garrison brew off. Justin is rather swapped and has asked for my help in making this run smooth. Here are the details - Judging will take place on February 21st at 10am, at this point it looks like Garrison will be the venue.
I'm looking for 3 more judges and 3 more stewards. For those who may not know, a steward will be responsible for general organization of the beer entries (pouring, delivery to judges, collection of paper work etc.)
Please let me know here or email jonathan@noblegrape.ca if your interested.
Edit: its probably worth while having 1-2 people on a stand by list if anyone doesn't mind a last minute
Cheers,
Jonathan

How many judges and stewards are you looking for total?
If I could make a suggestion, please get the contact info of the new crop of judges that are writing the exam this weekend. I'm sure they'd love to have some judging experience right away, and it would ease the burden on us other judges, as 25 beers in one sitting last year was too much!
Amartin, do you have email addresses for everyone?
ps. I can help with some organizing stuff too.

Heh, I never even thought of judging since I won't know how I scored on the exam until well after that, that's why I volunteered for stewarding. I guess I forgot that there's only one BJCP judge needed at each table.
Sorry Chris, no, I don't. We've just been communicating through private messages. However, I'll see them all on Saturday.

Andrew you can still judge to get some experience, you will just mark your score sheet as "Rank Pending." I'd recommend you do the vs stewarding.amartin wrote:Heh, I never even thought of judging since I won't know how I scored on the exam until well after that, that's why I volunteered for stewarding. Yeah, maybe I should. I guess that means I won't be able to enter my porter, but I'd rather get the judging experience. There are comps out west I can send it to.

Oh good idea, I was going for 12 (4 tables of 3) but perhaps 16 so we can get a few new judges in? I'm learning on the go here but I hope to continue taking a larger roll in the community so any input is welcome.chalmers wrote:How many judges and stewards are you looking for total?

4 stewards plus myself.
Andrew if you could help with contact info or even asking a few folks to be in touch that would be great.

I'd be interested in judging!
I won't have my exam marks back yet, but would love the experience.
Just sent off an email.

Thanks Amartin for letting me know about this thread.

I heard back from Mike, he doesn't think he'll be available around judging time and would rather submit an entry instead.

John and Andrew, yes, I am 99% sure you are on the list.
For everyone: judging will be Feb 21 at 10am, at Garrison. May be a good idea to check the Robust Porter style guidelines the night before, and there may even be a tiny tasting of them at some point, for a bit of a refresher. Stay tuned here or to your email.
