London and Southeast Craft Brewing Competition

I've finally been given my dissertation viva date in the UK, and it just so happens it's the day before a BJCP competition in London, so I've signed up to judge (priorities!). Should be fun. Anyone hear about this competition and have some details? The event is in Hackney, which I know nothing about. Should be good to meet some brewing folks in the UK. It will be at Truman's. I've not tried their beer so that should be fun too.

Hadn't heard about it, but it sure sounds like fun! I bet there will be some spectacular home made cask-conditioned beers available. I'd love to hear your report on the judging.
And, glad to hear the dissertation date has been set! Nice to have an end date, eh?

I haven't lived in England for 30 years. I'd be interested to hear what you think of the home brew/craft brew scene over there. From the limited stuff I've seen online, I think home/craft brewing might not be as diversified, in terms of styles, as North America is.

Yes, it's good to see the end of my PhD in sight - hopefully it's a good ending.

I'll report back on how the competition goes. Based on Mark's comments, maybe I should take some entries with me and see how they fare in UK comps, maybe I'll have a chance :D

There looks to be a beer festival afterwards so that should be a good time.
