Justin, I usually find I have to send by courier overnight, in order to compete with those people who don't live half way across the world. I have a company courier account and get a good discount. This time of year It's probably fine, but in the heat of the summer or dead of winter, Canada Post will destroy your beer.

I got them ready to take in to work tomorrow.

This is Jared Carleburg's brewing club. I wonder if I will get to tease him on Twitter. I'm sure he can out evil me though.

Congrats mark...
Thanks Justin, I'm sorry not to see you medalling this time. I'm counting on you to fill my shoes next year. I think you can do it. You have the passion for it. Congrats Mark on all your medals.

Good showing all in all for the Brewnosers, should hold this club at #3 in the BOTY.

Thats awesome, well done Mark!

I certainly wasn't expecting my best showing of the year at a limited entry competition. The ESB and American Brown are new brews that i did while i was home this summer (in august), the stout and Scottish 80 were leftovers from the Brewnosers competition.

I think so, I was 14th before the competition and the only one between me and the 10th spot was Parker Willfong from Ales who had was in 12th with 26 points and picked up a silver - 28
I had 24 points going into it and picked up 3 silver and a bronze putting me at 3, which should put me at 9th.

Well done! Bet you're pleased. That was your goal for this year, to be in the top 10.

Jared the #1 guy on BOTY says on Twitter we "nailed" this competition from the East Coast. Nice guy! It's his club as well that ran this.

That is such a tough category to compete in anyway, hard to brew a good sour beer, and the judging is quite variable.

I have two sour brews that i did last year that i was quite happy with, one was a cherry lambic that aged for over a year, the other was a soured strawberry saison that was quite unique and one of my favorite brews.

I submitted them both to competitions this summer.

In one competition the cherry lambic scored an average score of (i kid you not) 16.8,and the strawberry saison scored a 36.8 average.

Then at MoB & Beaus the Cherry brought home a gold medal and the Strawberry scored in the 20's.

I was so discouraged at the 16.8 i didn't bring any bottles of the cherry lambic or strawberry to NL with me to submit to anymore comps.

Got 35s for my sour...said wasn't enuf hops (for what I called a hoppy berliner...1oz at 5min).

22s for my Bo pils...that I put in the Czech lager cat....both sheets said overwhelming red apple...I figured I'd be out of style...but is the red apple from the s23 yeast? It is a fruity yeast

Got a 35 and a 40 for my red IPA. Didn't place, but hat's hopeful. Apparently it was a big class.

35 is a good score for the sour.

Yea good comments on the sour...I guess they were expecting more hops.

The lager was fruity...I knew that when I first tasted it. S23 is too fruity for a Bo pils...I put it I the Czech category. ..only because I couldn't think of another category for it...
Montreal is using 2008 so I was able to fit it to style...it still will be fruity...but may do better
