I had to send my apologies to Shane. Still on my brewing break. Haven't seen my family for a year ...catching up. Good luck all.

Re: 2nd Annual HRB Homebrew Comp
You have an interesting hydrometer 1.090 to 1.100 to 1.100
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

That's how all my hydrometers have been so it's all I know lol I buy them locally so it must just be the brand. That's how the graduated cylinders we use in the lab go too, I just treat them as percentages of the major dividing marks.

I read it as 1.090, 1.100, 1.110 - unless I'm missing something that LD sees!

Re: 2nd Annual HRB Homebrew Comp
Exactly! This is by far the strongest all grain batch I have brewed. I thought about adding a pound of sugar to dry it out a bit so it's not quite so sweet on the finish but I'm going to cycle my fermentation temps up to hopefully get a good attenuation so I don't have to.

Oops. LD and I may have been drinking when we first saw that picture and thought it was fucky. In retrospect, it does look correct.

Mike and I brewed our Wee Heavy today. Also about to brew our first partigyle. Looks and tastes like a mild, but hopping like a west coast apa

I wonder who all is entering from the club.jacinthebox wrote:I gotta bottle tonight
Mike and I co brewed and split a batch over 2 yeasts, then brewed a west coast inspired Scottish 60 from the 2nd running's which should be interesting.
Definitely going to be crunch time for us. We are really cutting this close but should still do well I think.

When is he heading up? We won't be kegging until the 1st or 2nd and will be force carbing.jacinthebox wrote:If nobody else is going that way...Eric said he will drive them up.
Don't think we'd have them ready until the weekend of the 9th.

So I have a cold, however Mike graciously kegged and force carbbed our entries. Giving them a few days to settle down then will be sending them up.
