I figured i should throw up a post with the 2016 Brewer of the Year Circuit since the Brewnoser Competition is officially on it now!

It looks like the final list of competitions are:

Cowtown Yeast Wranglers: February 21, 2016
Lethbridge Werthogs: February 26, 2016
Mountain View Homebrew March 3, 2016
Ales Open April 7, 2016
VanBrewer Awards May 2, 2016
Edmonton HomeBrewers May 6, 2016
Brewnosers May 15, 2016
Because Beer Competition June 10, 2016
National Capital Homebrew July 28, 2016
Saskatoon Head Hunters September 9, 2016
GTA Brew Slam September 23, 2016
Winnipeg Brew Bombers October 16, 2016

Many of the competitions have implemented a 10 beer per entrant rule, which i think is long overdue. I was hoping for a 6 or 8 beer limit this year since in a 12 or 14" cube box you can pack 6 or 8 entries respectively, but 10 is better than getting swamped with 20+ entries.

I sent 6 entries to the CowTown Years Wranglers Competition. It appears they had a solid turn out with over 500 entries again this year. All entries are 1st time recipe entries for me except one, and i was hoping for some feedback.

I sent in:

Red IPA (Personal Favorite of the bunch)
Dark Mild (Mostly Munich / Marris Otter with a bit of chocolate and surprisingly tasty)
Ordinary Bitter rev2.0
California Steam Ale (Similar recipe to one i did last year double the munich and used some fresh Northern Brewer Hop Union hops)
Doppelbock (turned out a bit too sweet for me)
Wee Heavy (from Hammond River HBC)

Results have been posted for the 2016 Yeast Wranglers Competition.

Locals dominated the winning, sweeping a few categories including all BOS beer. The turn out was huge, 453 beer were judged.

I snagged a gold for my DoppelBock, ironic that i would medal with that one when i said it was too sweet!

Thanks! Once i get over the never ending cold i've had since i returned from Extreme Beer Fest in Boston i'll have to celebrate by having one, it would taste like water right now and it seems like a waste, i could just drink a bud light and pretend i'm having a beer.

Lethbridge WertContest 2016 results should be out tonight. I sent a few into this as well, i didn't send the DoppelBock into this one that did well at Yeast Wranglers but instead sent in a new american lager that i brewed this summer at home on my large setup. As far as lagers go i really enjoy it, and i cycled my yeast temps throughout fermentation to see if it would help with a clean profile.
