Sugggested stop near Montreal?

Going to be driving 'by' Montreal (not going into town with a cube van if I can help it!). Just gave researching a try for some breweries/brewpubs/beer bars on the outskirts, but the whole 'websites only in french' thing is making it tricky. Looking for suggestions that meet these requirements:
- near'ish Montreal (give or take 30-60 min drive)
- brewery/brewpub within walking distance of hotel, but I'd be just as happy with a decent restaurant with a good beer selection. Will cab it somewhere as well if hotel isn't nearby.
- good food "in the area"
Will be rolling in on a Friday night likely, not that it really matters.
Cheers!

Beau's is within 60min of the city and Vancleek Hill is an easy town to get around, very small. If your headed to Toronto, its probably too much of a detour, but worth hitting if you are going up Ottawa way. I don't know what there is in way of food around there though.
There are lots of microbrew sign's on your way from Rivière du Loupe to Quebec city (if you are driving from here). Never stopped in on any myself. There is also a nice holiday inn (suits perhaps?) just off the highway in Quebec City. When I do the drive, especially when I did it with a cube and trailer, I stop before I drive through the city. Traffic in Montreal is a nightmare, especially if you are not used to driving something large on the highway and you never know when shit is going to fall off one of the bridges/tunnel. Launching whenever you want from a hotel is much easier to time traffic then trying to time your crossing by leaving here at a given hour. Plus it close to an awesome beer store (but if you don't have a car it might be hard to bring the cube into the area.
Sorry I can't be of more help

Do you like Belgian-style mussels and frites?
I have a $50 GC for it that I'd let go for cheap.
Motel nearby:

I think we have a winner! That place looks great, motel looks fine (easy enough to park I'd say). Looks like I can drive around Montreal on the 30 as well, which should be less stressful.
$50 GC, that'll be a nice meal/beers for just me, but I'll take it!

So the gift certificate is no good for Friday, so I decided to pull the trigger on a $$ cab ride to Dieu du Ceil!
Didn't make it during my last visit to Montreal, so why not. It's an adventure right?

Heading to Montreal next week Mon-Sat, staying at the Mariott Château Champlain Hotel downtown. Any recommendations, going to try to get to Dieu du Ceil, but recommendations for other good pubs/restaurants are appreciated.

au pied du cochon is amazing, if you want cheaper and decent try Les Trois Brasseurs, theres about 6 of them scattered around the city, theres a great latin joint off saint catheriines aroiund Guy or Crescent ( been a while) The Upstairs club ( not peelers but a nice jazz bar/bar) is around there too and has some of the best calamari I've ever eaten. Joe beef is on the other side very$ but so worth it. so is scwartzs worth a 2 hour plus wait any day.
