Post by mindless2 » Fri Jun 05, 2015 9:14 pm

Hey Guys,
I was just wondering if someone could maybe suggest a recipe wit the limited ingredients I have... (wanted to use citra hops, but my OBK order is a few days away)
I'm looking for something a little hoppy, but open to almost anything...

Here is whats left in the pantry...
5lbs of golden lite DME
1oz crystal
2oz fuggle
1oz saaz
.5oz perle
.5oz challenger
.5oz nugget
2lb corn sugar
1oz tangerine peel
.5 oz licorice root
2oz sarsaparilla root
.75oz bitter orange peel

Like a said I'm new to the game, and am open to suggestions.....

Any ideas??

DME is fine. you'll want some wheat (mini mash) and coriander seeds.

Yeast is another issue.

I'll add 1oz sarsaparilla and .5 of licorice with 10min left in boil. Then another 1oz sarsaparilla in the primary

Yeah you probably want some specialty malts to bp the body and flavour up a bit, not just DME. You could probably find a nice American blond recipe somewhere on the internet that would use some of those spices too - tangerine peel n coriander maybe, or peppercorns, or something. Could be fun. Good luck!

Edit: you posted a recipe while I was writing this - partial mash is a good call! Im not good at looking at the recipe specifics but it should be a good beer. Do an internet search on the licorice/sarsaparilla amounts just to make sure they aren't way over the top.
planning: beer for my cousin's wedding
Fermenting: black ipa
Conditioning:
Kegged: barrel barleywine from 2014 - i think i still have this somewhere
