At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter.

Re: Looking for a Keith's Clone
So is it an exact clone? I love the authentic IPA
I did a Miller Light clone from HBT that was great for the style... little taste. but lots of alcohol and lots of missing colour
I added AA to the secondary and it brought the gravity down to 1.000. With an initial gravity of about 1.035 that made it very close to Miller.
Talk about a lawnmower beer... just what Dr. Seuss ordered.

It's as exact as you're going to get without a time machine. Looking at some of the old books, their own recipes weren't brewed the same on a shift by shift basis...

When you brew these type beers, do you get the same "crisp" sensation as the original.
Unless I dry out my brews I really don't get that crisp taste.

This type of beer wasn't light or crisp in 1917

Ya, kinda figured thatNASH wrote:This type of beer wasn't light or crisp in 1917

But I guess the recipe I would be looking for is the modern one.. the IPA version. My step mom loves the Keith's IPA

Ah yes, I see now. Tony, that clone recipe is not for today's version, it's a reconstruction of the original version. The resemblance between the two is in name only.

So much for the claim of following the recipe to the letter, lolmr x wrote:Ah yes, I see now. Tony, that clone recipe is not for today's version, it's a reconstruction of the original version. The resemblance between the two is in name only.

You don't know the half of it, lol....
FWIW, all my inbev drinking buddies really warm up to the original recipe after 1 or 2. Brand power rules the day.
