Hey guys,
Just thought I would through my grain bill up for my honorable mention Schwarzbier for the 2011 Brew Off. For those in attendance that had a chance to sample it, I am very much looking forward to your comments and constructive criticisms as i'm still a very new brewer thats trying to learn the ropes.
4 LB Pale Liquid Extract
1.5 LB Munich Malt
1.5 LB Pilsner 2 row
.5 LB cara-pils
.25 LB chocolate malt
.25 lb roasted barley
2.5oz Hallertauer (75Min)
.25 tsp irish moss (10 Min)
.5 oz Hallertauer (1 Min)
WYeast 2206 Bavarian Lager yeast.
I did a 75 min boil only because the Hallertauer I picked up were 3% AA where i based recipe on 5% originally.
Because I'm an extract brewer the color turned out much darker than beer smith estimated but I was banking on that. Measured OG was 1.046 corrected to 68'F and FG was 1.010 for a final ABV of appx 4.5%
It was wonderful to meet a lot of the guys tonight, and I hope to start making it out to some of the get togeathers.

Re: Honorable Mention Schwarzbier
Great beer. For me, I could have placed any of those selected in the 1-4 positions. And you did it with extract. Good to meet you, and hopefully will be seeing you at meetings and other random get togethers. Thanks for posting the recipe.

At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter.
