Hi All!
New to the Brewnosers website. Great site everyone.
I have been making all grain for some time now. Extract for even longer!! Recently my wife has approached me and asked me to make her an orange cranberry ale. I am really not sure which way to go. I considered making a wheat beer recipe (kind of like a Hoegaarden) keeping out the coriander and replacing it with a pound of frozen cranberries.
Any suggestions or ideas would be great.

That sounds like a reasonable idea, but I think you want to keep the coriander in..???

At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter.

I made an apple cranberry mead a few years ago. A bragget or honey beer is probably not a bad option either.

I wanted to stick with a wheat beer or maybe a pale. I have been doing a lot of reading about cranberry beers. Sounds like the results are mixed. 23 liters of really sour tasting beer doesn't sound too good.

Re: Orange Cranberry ideas
What I ended up doing is buying a festa brew wheat beer.(I know easy but I didn't want to spend 4 extra hours for a beer just in case it didn't turn out)
Adding 1oz of sweet orange peel. 1/2 pound of chopped cranberries which I heated to 170 degrees to pasteurize. I added a pack of Wyest 3068 , Weihenstephan Weizen . I will also ferment this around 12-14 degrees so that I don't get to many esters. I am also going to put about a half a pound of cranberries in the secondary too. Hope it turns out!! Any thoughts?
