Yours was Sunday night. I haven't figured how to scan the score sheet (not a judge). I may get a kid to photo it/them.

Very good beer... I can't add much to what everyone else has said except that you've set the bar high right out of the gate!

Very good Stout. I really enjoyed this. Went great as an after roast dinner dessert. Nice Chocolate-coffee taste, licorice flavour very noticeable. Good Job!!!

Don't have any detailed tasting notes or anything, but I thoroughly enjoyed this. I took my time and let it warm up and was rewarded. Nice beer; thanks!

It's hard not to want to set the bar high when 37 beer geeks and friends are trying your beer.

Chocolaty more than roasty and I definitely get the alcohol - at least with the first few sips. The hops are subdued for an imperial, it's tasty for sure.

I would gladly drink another

Drank this last night, and my first thought was "...damn, I could drink another!"

Good job Derek (and perhaps Mark)!

Awesome, awesome beer. I fell behind a day and had this tonight. Absolutely loved it. I could really taste the raisin notes that came through. I had a lot of trouble putting my glass back down. Really great job! Also as a side note, both the bottles and the labels were excellent!

Deep rich aroma. Lightly sweet malt flavours with a depth of flavour from both the malts and the hops. Bitterness tasted spot on for me. Excellent American style Imperial Stout with some hop forward flavour but not too much.

I'm going to brew a similar beer and cold steep the roasted grains.
Nova Prime Taproom
Tap 1: Festa Brew Scotch Ale
Tap 2:
"Fill with mingled cream and amber,
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chamber of my brain -
Quaintest thoughts - queerist fancies
Come to life and fade away;
What care I how time advances?
I am drinking ale today." ~ Poe

Interesting read on capped mashing exbeeriment

http://brulosophy.com/2015/11/30/roaste ... results-2/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

It is interesting. McKay75 forwarded me the above a few days ago. I wonder if this would have been thinner compared to a full mash version? Evidence suggest yes. I read a book by Gordon Strong which suggested to avoid astringent flavours to add at vorlauf. As I BIAB I went for the end of the mash. I figured it was worth a try. I have had off flavour with large amounts of dark grain before so I think it helped me but I'm sure it's a PH issue.
