Dunkel
OG: 1.052
FG: 1.014
IBU: 25
SRM: 19
ABV: 4.86%
Recipe was for 5 gallons.
Grains:
6 lb Munich Malt (69%)
2 lb Pils Malt (23%)
0.5 lb Caramunich II (6%)
0.25 lb Carafa II (3%)
Hops:
0.75 oz Magnum 11.7% (30 minutes)
0.5 oz Tettnang 5% (flame out)
Water:
Well water with estimates for mineral content and some chalk and baking soda added. Probably moderately hard without too many carbonates.
Yeast:
Mangrove Jack California Lager, fermented mid 60sF, with a diacetyl rest at the end. I added gelatin after fermentation, so animal product alert for any vegetarians out there.

Well, I might disappoint you then, this is a dunkel. Tim’s got a dubbel for the 31st though, so I’m looking forward to that.

Lol my reading skills are terrible lately - I'm also very excited for a Dunkel!
I've been finding that the dark beers are severely under represented at the stores lately which is one reason I've been excited about all of the dark Decembeers

I was excited for this beer, then I saw the recipe and now I am doubly so.

Dead flat, heavily oxidized. This would have been a great beer if not for the twist off bottle that didn't seal properly.

I had a screw tap but luckily no issues. Enjoying the hell out of this now. So good, really digging this type of beer style as of lately. Thanks for the share!

This was really wonderful. No carb or cap issues here, just an excellent example of a dark and toasty lager with just a little bit of lingering hop character and some yeast character as well (just a little bit of banana on the nose and palate). On one hand I'm surprised that you got this result with "Anchor Steam" yeast; on the other I think about it a minute and realize that it was probably a very sane yeast choice that is totally borne out by the result. Very much enjoyed this one and would happily drink more of it. Nicely done!

This was lovely. Really smooth, well-balanced and refined... haven't had this style in a while, and very much enjoyed it. Thanks!
