Re: 2020 Exchange - December 16 - Dark Mild aka Mild Stallion, the Donkey Edition
I am working on last-minute, urgent reporting project, and I needed a little liquid courage, so I figured I would follow the schedule.
Dark mild is not a style I am used to at all or would typically reach for (I tend towards higher abv beers typically) but I was pleased with the initial, impressive head as I was expecting a low carb and a thin beer, but this was quite nice...it had some personality and was much more flavourful than I expected - I didn't detect any off flavours at all. I know these are meant to be easy-drinking, were you could pack a few away in session, and I'd say you achieved that nicely.
Reminded me of some of the kinds of pints I had when I lived in Dublin and was trying to take it easy and not drinking Guinness or craft beer. Thanks for sharing.

When I first received my advent calendar this was one of the first beers I clocked. I love English session ale, and dark mild stands out for me especially. This beer does not disappoint. Toast, caramel, some light roast notes all in a low abv package, and thankfully in a slightly larger bottle. Thanks for this one.

Unfortunately ours was highly oxidized or infected... sounds like we missed out on a good one!

An excellent rendition of a wonderful style. It’s like the beer equivalent of comfort food. Thanks!!

There was something flowery or perfumey with this. Looked up the ingredients, saw the shoreline. I guess I'm not a fan of this stuff.
