New Beginnings Irish Red

Post by sleepyjamie » Sun Jun 24, 2012 12:10 pm

OG 1.053
SRM 15.5
IBU ~ 20

Marris Otter ~ 86%
Melanoiden ~5%
Carastan ~ 4%
Roasted Barley ~ 3.5%
Flaked Barley ~ 1.5%

Northern Brewer 1.50 oz @ 60m

Irish Ale 1084

Looking for an irish red with a bit more malt background, subtle toffee flavour and some nice head.

Thoughts?

yep.

im gonna have to cut the top on my pot larger as it is a bit too narrow for the bag.

also going to need to build a false bottom so i can keep the flame on when required.

That's what I was wondering...I wanted to try some 10g BIAB but don't see it happening with the current opening on my keggle..

the bag isn't the problem. the weight of the grain isn't bad. its just the opening in my pot needs to be wider. i also find my efficiency went down doing 10 gal BIAB by about 8%. i think thats because im loosing some good sugar due to the massive amount of spent grain sitting in the bucket.

once the top is cut more then removing the bag shouldnt be an issue
