I'm looking at the Everyday IPA recipe in their 1 gallon book right now. Irish Moss is the only thing real difference. They also have a recipe for a single-hopped Simcoe IPA, which sounds delicious.

Actually... a quick newb question: you have the boil time as 90? Does that mean you're boiling for 30m prior to adding the 1st batch of hops?

typically that is the case, unless you see in the recipe a first wort hops (added as soon as your done the mash) or a 90min addition.

That's what I was thinking, but the recipe in the book has it as a 60m boil.

Watch out for really high boil off volumes with 1gal and a 90min boil. You might want to put a measured amount of water into your pot and boil it for 90min first, then measure what comes out once it cools to room temperature.

When I did the 1G batches from the book, 60 minute boil was fine, and even then boil off can be an issue. My posted recipe was converted for BIAB and I just normally do 90 minute boils - I should have mentioned that.

Also, the book recipes don't give the OG or FG and I did find that for the ABV they quote, their setup is in the 80+ % efficiency range.

This is very similar to my House IPA
except I don't use amber (sometimes Vienna) use Zeus for bittering and blend some Simcoe/Cascade for the late additions/DH. Delicious every time!

What care I how time advances?
I am drinking ale today." ~ Poe
