My attempt at the West Coast Blaster with a few changes as to what I have on hand. Think it looks ok?


Original Gravity (OG): 1.065
Colour (SRM): 17.6
Bitterness (IBU): 62.1

71.68% American 2-Row 5kg
6.45% Crystal 60 .45kg
14.34% Munich I 1kg
3.25% Victory.227kg
3.25% Crystal 120 .227kg
1.02% Chocolate .071kg

1.5 g/l Northern Brewer (10.6% Alpha) @ 60 Minutes (Boil)
1.2 g/l Cascade (7.8% Alpha) @ 10 Minutes (Boil)
1.2 g/l Centennial (9.7% Alpha) @ 10 Minutes (Boil)
1.2 g/l Cascade (7.8% Alpha) @ 0 Minutes (Boil)
1.2 g/l Centennial (9.7% Alpha) @ 0 Minutes (Boil)

Single step Infusion at 66°C for 60 Minutes. Boil for 60 Minutes

Fermented at 20°c with safale us-05
Drinking: Red Hook clone
Waiting on: Fruit beer

Tried this at canucks house a while ago, excellent amber ale!

Fermenting: Oud bruin/Vienna Pekko SMaSH
On tap: Nelson dry hopped Berliner/ Scottish Heavy 70-/ NE IPA

Yeah, I typically don't get too excited over Ambers but the WCB turned out really nice!

Brew day went ok I guess lol. I use a cylinder cooler and forgot about the extra grain in this recipe. She was pretty close to the top when I finally got it all mixed in. Then of coarse my temp was low because of the extra grain. Filled to the top and mixed with hot water, still to low haha. Vorlauf (term) off 1 liter and brought that to a boil, hit target this time of 150.3. Missed my taget og, came in a little low at 1058. All in all a learning experience which I should have known before hand. Think it will still be good.
