I just bought their recipe book as I'm finding it hard to convert 5 gallon recipes into 1 gallon recipes. (Dividing by 5 is NOT the answer).
If I had one knock against this book is the lack of AAU's and the data such as OG, FG, and IBU that most recipes come with.
Anyone have suggestions for this? Or should I use the amounts they suggest at a style appropriate IBU amount?

Get Beersmith. The scaling function is excellent.

At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter.

Re: Brooklyn Brew Shop
Really? Hmmm it was a big decision for me to buy this book. I have the one gallon kit. Do I invest in 1 gallon recipes or do I hold off for 5 gallon brewing? Or do I perfect my craft with 1 gallon before investing in the 5 gallon equipment. It's stressful! Haha

Re: Brooklyn Brew Shop
I still do 1 gallon brews...an upside to this is when I screw up the batch I only have to dump 10 bottles into the sink....the downside to the 1 gallon brews is that when you really nail a brew and it rocks - you only have 10 bottles.
Nothing says you have to do 5 gallon batches...I'm the only beer drinker in the house and 5 gallons is far too much for me alone; I got a 3 gallon carboy for xmas and I recently bought a shiny new pot from Costco that will easily handle a 3 gallon batch!

You can brew in any volume you Damn well feel like
Nova Prime Taproom
Tap 1: Festa Brew Scotch Ale
Tap 2:
"Fill with mingled cream and amber,
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chamber of my brain -
Quaintest thoughts - queerist fancies
Come to life and fade away;
What care I how time advances?
I am drinking ale today." ~ Poe
