This is dangerously easy drinking. It's got a nice caramel flavour, with the fruitiness from the Amarillo and a bit of spiciness from the rye, with a nice creamy mouthfeel. Thanks Ruby!

Quite nice. Liking the malt bill. I figured you either had a good dose of Crystal 120 or Special B and see that it's the latter. Honey malt showing up in there as well.
The flavours are opening up as the beer warms too.
Damn fine beer!
Thanks.

Dug the malt bill, but didn't get a whole lot out of the hops other than the aroma from the Amarillo. That's actually a bit of a nice change from the other ambers/reds I've had lately. Might also be partially to do with this low-grade cold I can't seem to get rid of. Regardless, I enjoyed this; thanks!

Drinking this beer now. I'm enjoying the malt bill with this beer and it's perfectly balanced with the bittering hops. As Arron mentioned it's nice that it's not super hoppy. This is the kind of beer I like to have a couple of pints of. Great beer Rudy. Cheers

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Re: Harvest Mouse Rye Amber Ale (Mar 15 Beer Exchange)
Thank you all for the feedback so far. I wasn't as happy with the hopping as I could have been. It did let the malt do a little too much of the talking. The Amarillo was completely lost in there. Maybe should have went the English hop way for an earthier flavour. Some Bramling Cross would have brought some black currant flavours.
Anyone got any suggestions for improving the hop profile to bring it up and balance with the big malts without losing them?

Magnificent carbonation with everlasting thick tan head. As Andrew mentioned nice caramel and fruitiness. Drinks warm but not too hot. I don't get much rye and definitely malt forward but enjoyably so.
For a little more hops, (only because you asked) I'd consider swapping the 15 min addition for Amarillo and drop the 2 min to flameout/steep to try and boost the aroma.
Thanks also Jason for the big bottle, went down smooth.

Drank this before heading out to tackle the snow. Tasty beer. Few more late hops (personal preference), and this would be off the hook. Thanks for sending it.

Nice complex malt character with sweet slightly fruity, caramel, munich and biscuit notes. I'd describe the rye intensity as low-medium, with a hop character that adds more of a pleasant background component. The bitterness level is spot on to provide a perfect balance. Has got a medium body and finishes medium dry. This is a really nice beer, thanks alot!
