DIPA recipe

Post by ScottyLill » Mon May 18, 2015 7:36 pm

I'm looking for a dipa recipe as the title indicates. Wanting something I can tinker with and fine tune. I brew 5 gallon batches and love hops. Just started with all grain but will tackle anything, as long as it will work with my 10 gallon round cooler. Thanks

Any commercially available DIPA's that you really like? Might help with recipes as the style can vary quite a bit.

I'd say formulate one yourself. Personally I target 30 ibu bittering charge with a small 10 minute addition, followed by a huge flame out. Stick to 2-3 hops. As for the grain build go 85-90% basemalt , some victory, carapils and adjust your colour with Vienna, Munich or crystal. I typically put about 14oz hops in at flame out.

The sky is the limit on the hop schedule. The malt bill on my DIPA is pretty simple.

91.1% 2 row
1.3 % amber
1.3% C15
6.5% corn sugar

starts at about 1.090 and typically finishes around 1.011 - quite dry.
