I put together version 1 of this recipe for the last Garrison Competition. Life got really busy and I didn't end up getting it brewed in time for the competition. Good news is I really like the beer, so I made it again for Advent. I decided to make a larger 7 gallon batch this time.

I think it is probably too big and a little too hoppy for a "robust porter", but I will see what you all think!

When I read Morgan saying "too hoppy" I get excited. I remember lasts years West Coast Blaster he made. Hop heaven! I have high hopes for this one. Going to keg some beer shortly. I may have to try this around midnight.

Well I demonstrated some self control and waited until now to try it. Allot of yeast chunks came out in the pour even though I was careful. Aside from that the bitterness is great including hop flavour and roasted charter. I like it allot. Good job Morgan!

I thought this beer was amazing! Poured it up, sipped away... When I looked, the glass was empty. Wanted another. Awesome job! Thanks!

I saw some blobs of something floating at the top when I opened the bottle, but I just used my finger to hold them back.

I don't know much about this style, but I loved the subtle roast character mixed with the hops.

Long lasting head that survived to the end of the glass. Not that that was tough - I drank this great beer in about 10 minutes.

I loved this beer and I was sad to see the empty glass.

Well done beer. Very easy drinking. Floaters look like carb tab.

Pretty sure mine had a couple carb caps at the bottom.

Beer was still carbed and tasted great.

Note to self, next time shake bottles after adding carb tabs. First time using them. Glad that mystery is solved. Glad people like the beer!

Easy drinker, nice creamy mouthfeel, good carbonation, light chocolate and hops coming through. Good stuff.

I must have missed the tabs, but everything looks fine to me. That's some head on it! I like the big earthy, evergreen type hop character, and the chocolate. The late hops are probably on the high side for the style, but oh well. I like it.

Dark brown.  Thin,  quick dissipating head. Bits of something floating about.  Carmel and biscuit aroma with light chocolate. Fairly light in body. Nice, easy on the tongue roast flavours with a touch of earthy/herbal hop notes. Does not taste like a 7% beer.  Dangerously tasty in that case.  Thanks for the brew!

I got some bit chunky floaties, even though it wasn't an aggressive pour. I chalked it up to luck of the draw on the bottle I picked and carried on. Then I read here about the carb tabs :cheers2:

Nice beer, which I would gladly drink again. I got some dark fruits (raisins) once it warmed up - I wish I had let it warm up a little more, but the glass emptied rather quickly which is always a good sign.

39 isn't too bad. Was there anything in particular that you docked marks for (e.g. a flaw) or just not really to style?

Drank this late last night. As others have said, very easy-drinking considering the ABV. Nice gentle dark malt flavour. Thanks!
