Wort Oxygenation

Post by Chockpish » Tue May 05, 2015 12:26 pm

Hello All,

I'm looking at oxygen equipment for the wort and I'm struggling a little bit. Ontario Beer Keg have the Oxygenator for about 260.00$ (tank + wand and stone). The problem is Air Liquide here in Moncton tell me they won't refill it due to the absence of TC or DOT stamp.

I could get a tank from air liquid for 200.00$, so now I need to find a regulator/flowmeter.

Any idea?

Cheers from sunny Moncton,

Chockpish

http://hopdawgs.ca/index.php?route=prod ... rch=oxygen" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - I use one of these. It doesn't come with a refillable oxygen tank, you just get the disposable ones at the hardware store. Home Depot, Rona, and Canadian Tire all carry them.

Nice. How many batches would you get out of one of those tanks?

There's a thread here on a group buy we did on medical O2 tanks. Scuba dealer refills them.

The shipping from Hopdawgs has held me back from pulling the trigger.

The shipping didn't seem too bad. Anybody else interested in ordering one? We could try to get a break on the shipping.

As a follow-up to my request, I will be buying a regulator with a flow meter from ebay for about 100.00 CAD, then will get the 200.00 $ bottle at Air Liquide here in Moncton. The flow meter goes from 1 to 15 L/min. I don't expect it to be precise but I will at least have an idea on the quantity of bubbles going into the wort. I'm over-budget with my electric build, but I still try to buy decent quality in order to avoid buying again down the road. At least that's what I've been telling my wife..!

Cheers,
