Keezer...Freezer

Post by tizzler » Wed Aug 12, 2015 2:54 pm

I'm currently in the beginning stages of building a keezer. And of course I need a small freezer for this project. Looking on kijiji there is a number of options. I want to be able to fit three tall kegs, and the CO2 canister.

First question: Is there anything I should specifically be looking for in a used chest freezer?

Regulating the temperature of the keezer: What is the best way/device to do so.

Any help is appreciated. With just beginning this project, any FYIs would be great related to the build.

I've got a freezer I was going to convert at home, but wife shot it down. It's plugged in killing the power bill unused. Freezer can hold 3 ball lock and CO2 without a collar, or possibly 5 and co2 with.

As for temp control use the below.

Definitely go with a collar, insulate and add some damprid to absorb moisture. After that run your lines, drill your holes and add your taps. Plug in, dial into your desired temp and start pouring beer.

I'd take a look at the thread below before buying that temp controller. There's a new one Dave is bringing in and it's talked about in that thread.

I acquired a freezer which is a Woods Custom and it has a power cord going into the top door. With a small light on the front of the door I assume it is to power this. This would not indicate there is any sort of coolant line in the top would there?

Thanks,

Coolant lines wouldn't be in the lid...ur safe... are you adding a tower or collar? Just be careful of wires (for the light) in the lid

It's going to be a three tap tower. I'll get the lining off the top and take a look when I get a chance.
